LCA Modular Course: Social Education in the LCA Programme
- Target Group
- Teachers teaching Social Education in Leaving Certificate Applied and Coordinators who want to gain a deeper understanding of the requirements in this area.
- Course Aims
- - Examine the specific requirements for Year 1 and Year 2 Social Education including Social and Health 1 and 2, Contemporary Issues Module 1 My Community and Taking Charge
- Provide opportunities to explore methodologies suitable for teaching Social Education.
- Explore and plan a programme of work related to Year 1 and 2 Social Education with particular liaison with out-of-school/centre agencies and organisations
- Provide an opportunity to share experience of resources available for Social Education
For Teachers new to Year 2 Social Education, a one day workshop on Contemporary Issues Module 1 and the Contemporary Issue Task is also offered. Details of this are included in the schedule of one day LCA workshops earlier.
